Prepare the filling:
Heat the olive oil in a pan and sauté the onion and garlic until golden.
Add the minced meat, season with salt, pepper and optional spices. Cook until cooked through and free of liquid.
Remove from heat and let cool.
Prepare the puff pastry:
Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F) and line a baking tray with baking paper.
Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
Spread the cooked meat evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-2 cm border.
Sprinkle the grated cheese on top of the meat.
Form the rolls:
Roll up the dough from one of the long ends, forming a tight cylinder.
Cut the roll into portions approximately 2-3 cm thick.
Place the rolls on the tray with the cut side facing up.
Bake:
Brush the rolls with beaten egg to make them golden.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden and crisp.
