Since May, there has been incredible heat. All windows and balconies are wide open all day. Mosquitoes and flies are not shy, they try to fly into the house in swarms. I don’t have a single mosquito net on my windows. At the same time, during the entire summer, a maximum of one mosquito got into my apartment, and that was from the entrance due to an oversight.
I categorically do not use fumigators and other store-bought mosquito repellents. I make my own sprays, which save me from uninvited buzzing flyers.
In general, the main thing that insects do not like is strong smells. Based on this basic rule, I make my sprays to combat mosquitoes and midges.
- A spray with conditioner is a good solution to the problem of fighting midges. But it is practically useless against flies.
- An infusion of cloves in alcohol works well against bloodsuckers and flies. But the infusion is a thick dark color. You can’t apply it to light windows or a white windowsill. But you can pour a little into a cup or put a cotton ball and pour the infusion on top. Put such a cup on the windowsill. I assure you, it is not so easy for mosquitoes and flies to break through such a « curtain ». The main thing is not to forget to add fresh infusion every 6-8 hours.
