Ingredients:
1 pound dried navy beans (soaked overnight and drained)
1 large yellow onion, chopped
3 cloves of garlic, minced
3/4 cup molasses
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup tomato ketchup
1 tablespoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a bit of heat)
4 cups water (or as needed)
8 ounces thick-cut bacon, cooked and chopped (or substitute smoked ham hocks)
