Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Meat Sauce

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions and sauté until softened.
- Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Drain excess fat and return the beef to the pan.
- Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and water. Stir well.
- Mix in basil, oregano, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and sugar.
- Simmer on low heat for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 2: Prepare the Cheese Mixture
- In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, parsley, and salt.
- Stir until well blended. Set aside.
Step 3: Assemble the Lasagna
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Spread 1 cup of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Arrange 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce.
- Spread 1/3 of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.
- Sprinkle with 1 cup of mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat layers two more times: sauce, noodles, ricotta, mozzarella.
- For the final layer, add remaining meat sauce, noodles, and top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
