Instructions:
1. Prepare the Apples:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×13-inch baking tray with parchment paper.
In a bowl, toss the sliced apples with cinnamon and nutmeg. Set aside.
2. Make the Cake Batter:
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, mixing until smooth.
Gently fold in the spiced apple slices, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking tray and spread it evenly.
3. Bake the Cake:
Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the tray.
These are eaten and I get a crumb; they never survive a minute out of the oven.
