Instructions:
1. Heat a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up into small pieces with a spatula or wooden spoon.
2. Add the diced onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for about 5 minutes until the vegetables have softened.
3. In a small bowl, mix together the tomato sauce, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture into the skillet with the beef and vegetables.
4. Stir everything together until well combined. Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together. Adjust the seasoning to taste.
5. While the sloppy joe filling is simmering, prepare the Texas toast. Lightly butter one side of each slice of bread.
6. Heat a separate skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the buttered side of the bread slices down onto the skillet and cook until golden brown and toasted. Flip the bread and toast the other side as well. Repeat with the remaining slices of bread.
