Essential Oils Should Be Mixed: In a spray container, combine thirty to fifty drops of the essential oils that you have selected. Increasing the amount of oils that you use will result in a more potent repellent.
The addition of witch hazel or alcohol involves filling about half of the bottle with either rubbing alcohol or witch hazel.
Incorporate Water: Pour water into the remaining space of the bottle. Keep a little amount of space at the top so that you may shake the mixture.
Include Vegetable Glycerin (at your discretion): If you are going to use glycerin, include one teaspoon in the mixture. It is not required to complete this step, although it is suggested if you have dry skin.
To ensure that all of the components are well combined, make sure the lid is securely fastened and give the bottle a vigorous shake.
Take a little amount of the product and apply it to a small area of your skin to check for any allergic reactions. In situations when it is necessary, spray the repellent on exposed flesh or clothes. Apply it again after a few hours to get the best possible results.
Additional Suggestions to Consider:
Keep the insect repellent in a cool, dark area to ensure that its effectiveness is maintained.
Shake the container well before use since the oils and water might separate.
In order to provide additional protection, you may want to think about growing bug-repellent plants such as marigolds, citronella, and lavender around your kitchen or in window boxes.
It is important to keep in mind that natural repellents are a safer option to chemical ones; nonetheless, it is possible that they may need more regular application.
